Special Issue Guidelines
The JVE Editors-in-Chief welcome proposals for themed Special Issues (SI) that are within the scope of the journal. We seek to publish focused Special Issues (SI) that are well cited and of high quality. Potential Guest Editor(s) who would like to propose a thematic Special Issue for the JVE are invited to prepare a proposal as outlined here:
Special Issue title and order of potential SI Guest Editor(s) (names, titles, affiliations and contact information) including their prior experience with editing
Please note that the JVE has a designated SI Editor who will be guiding the process. In your proposal, please include the following:
1. A written proposal of 750 words (excluding references) stating the need for the proposed SI addressing:
- how the Issue fits with the scope of the JVE,
- the advances provided by the papers in relation to existing knowledge,
- any novelty provided by the projects or papers,
- the common theme(s) that ensure(s) coherence among the papers
- a list of colleagues/author who you would invite to contribute to the issue
- a list of potential reviewers (it is acceptable for authors to review each other’s contributions as long as this is double blind review)
- if applicable: a list of proposed paper titles, with authors and abstracts.
2. A proposed timeline (please see sample timeline under 2.1 on p.2 below):
- An open Call for Papers
- Submission deadline for abstracts
- Invitation for authors to submit manuscripts
- Submission deadline for first drafts of manuscripts
- Submission deadline for revised manuscripts
- Submission deadline for final drafts of manuscripts
- Publication of Special Issue
